The Kitties of the Camino is more than a children's book series. It is a project dedicated to sharing kindness, empathy, friendship, courage, gratitude, truth, inclusion, and joy with young readers.
Our mission extends beyond the pages of each book. Through this series, we support children, animals, education, and environmental stewardship.
We are actively partnering with schools, libraries, bookstores, gift shops, and community organizations that believe in helping children thrive, supporting cat rescue efforts, and protecting our natural world.
How Your Purchase Makes a Difference
• A portion of our efforts supports the Assistance League of the Eastside (ALE) and its mission to help children in need start the school year with confidence, dignity, and hope through new clothes and shoes.
• We donate books to bilingual schools and educational programs, helping children learn important values while encouraging literacy in both English and Spanish.
• Books are donated to cat shelters and rescue organizations, which can sell them and keep 100% of the proceeds to help provide food, medical care, shelter, and support for cats in need.
• We support environmental education and conservation through organizations in both Alaska and the Galápagos Islands, helping protect some of the world's most unique ecosystems for future generations.
Every book purchased helps spread positive values while supporting initiatives that benefit children, animals, education, and the environment.

One step forward is one less step you would have to take.
During my recovery from knee surgery in Kirkland, Washington, I found myself thinking about the many lessons the Camino has given me over the years. Walking long distances teaches patience, humility, friendship, and respect for others.
From those reflections was born a small series of bilingual English and Spanish books for children called ............. The Kitties of the Camino Book Series A Journey of Values
Durante mi recuperación de una cirugía de rodilla en Kirkland, Washington, tuve tiempo para reflexionar sobre las muchas lecciones que el Camino me ha enseñado a lo largo de los años. Caminar largas distancias nos enseña paciencia, humildad, amistad y respeto por los demás.
De esas reflexiones nació una pequeña serie de libros bilingües para niños, en inglés y en español, llamada “The Kitties of the Camino”, inspirada en los valores que muchos caminantes aprenden paso a paso en el Camino.
Each book follows a different kitty who shares a simple lesson about life. The stories are written in English and Spanish so that children and families can enjoy them together. The goal is simple: to help the next generation grow with values such as empathy, gratitude, respect, friendship, and kindness.
On this page you will see the covers of the books in the series. Under each one you will find a short description and the expected release date. Every two months a new book will be released on Amazon.
Like the Camino itself, the journey is taken step by step.
Cada libro sigue a un gatito diferente que comparte una lección sencilla sobre la vida. Las historias están escritas en inglés y en español para que los niños y las familias puedan disfrutarlas juntos. El objetivo es simple: ayudar a que la próxima generación crezca con valores como la empatía, la gratitud, el respeto, la amistad y la bondad.
En esta página verás las portadas de los libros de la serie. Debajo de cada una encontrarás una breve descripción y la fecha estimada de publicación. Cada dos meses se publicará un nuevo libro en Amazon.

Maria and the Lesson of Kindness

Maria is a gentle black and white kitty who lives near the cathedral at the end of the Camino in Santiago de Compostela. Every day she watches pilgrims arrive after long journeys filled with effort, hope, and sometimes tired hearts.
One afternoon Maria discovers that even the smallest act of kindness can change someone’s day. Through her quiet example, children learn that kindness does not need to be big or complicated. A smile, a helping paw, or a few warm words can make another traveler feel welcome on the road of life.
María es una dulce gatita blanca y negra que vive cerca de la catedral, al final del Camino en Santiago de Compostela. Cada día observa a los peregrinos llegar después de largas jornadas llenas de esfuerzo, esperanza y, a veces, con el corazón cansado.
Una tarde, María descubre que incluso el acto de bondad más pequeño puede cambiar el día de alguien. A través de su ejemplo tranquilo, los niños aprenden que la bondad no tiene que ser grande ni complicada. Una sonrisa, una patita que ayuda o unas pocas palabras amables pueden hacer que otro viajero se sienta bienvenido en el camino de la vida.
Book Three
Eva and the Gift of Empathy

Eva is a quiet kitty who spends her days observing the pilgrims who pass along the Camino. One afternoon she notices that not every traveler carries the same story. Some walk with joy, others with worry, and some with heavy hearts.
Through Eva’s gentle eyes, children learn the meaning of empathy, the ability to understand how another person feels. This story reminds young readers that a kind word, a smile, or simply listening can make a big difference in someone’s journey.
Eva es una gatita tranquila que pasa sus días observando a los peregrinos que caminan por el Camino. Una tarde se da cuenta de que no todos los viajeros llevan la misma historia. Algunos caminan con alegría, otros con preocupaciones y algunos con el corazón pesado.
A través de los ojos sensibles de Eva, los niños aprenden el significado de la empatía, la capacidad de comprender cómo se siente otra persona. Esta historia recuerda a los jóvenes lectores que una palabra amable, una sonrisa o simplemente escuchar pueden marcar una gran diferencia en el camino de alguien.
Book Four
Linda and the Gift of Friendship

Linda es una gatita amistosa que vive en una parte tranquila del Camino donde muchos peregrinos se detienen a descansar. Un día observa a dos viajeros que comienzan la jornada como extraños, pero poco a poco se convierten en amigos mientras caminan juntos, comparten comida y se animan mutuamente a lo largo del sendero.
A través de los ojos de Linda, los niños descubren que la amistad puede comenzar con un simple “hola” y hacerse más fuerte cuando las personas se cuidan y se apoyan unas a otras durante el camino.
José and the Gift of Curiosity

José es un pequeño gatito curioso que siempre está haciendo preguntas sobre los peregrinos que conoce en el Camino. ¿De dónde vienen? ¿Por qué están caminando? ¿Qué esperan encontrar?
Mientras José escucha sus historias, aprende que la curiosidad nos ayuda a comprender el mundo y a las personas que nos rodean. Esta historia invita a los niños a explorar, hacer preguntas y descubrir que aprender sobre los demás puede hacer que el camino de la vida sea más rico e interesante.
Book Six
Josefina and the Gift of Gratitude

Josefina es una gatita de gran corazón que pasa sus días cerca de un pequeño café donde los peregrinos se reúnen después de una larga jornada de caminata. Allí observa cómo los viajeros se ayudan unos a otros con direcciones, comparten comida y se dan ánimo.
Josefina aprende que decir gracias es mucho más que una buena costumbre. La gratitud nos recuerda apreciar la bondad que recibimos y los muchos pequeños regalos que hacen que cada día tenga un significado especial.
Book Seven
Tomás is a thoughtful kitty who watches pilgrims as they face difficult hills, long distances, and moments of doubt along the Camino. He begins to understand that courage is not about being fearless but about continuing to walk even when the path feels hard.
Tomás es un gatito reflexivo que observa a los peregrinos mientras enfrentan colinas difíciles, largas distancias y momentos de duda a lo largo del Camino. Poco a poco comienza a entender que el valor no significa no tener miedo, sino seguir caminando incluso cuando el camino se siente difícil.
A través de la historia de Tomás, los niños aprenden que el valor puede encontrarse en la perseverancia, en la bondad y en creer en sí mismos mientras avanzan en su propio camino.
On the Camino, Every Caminante Belongs
This special story brings together the deeper message of the entire series. Along the Camino, people come from many countries, cultures, and backgrounds. They may speak different languages, practice different religions, or hold different ideas. Yet when they walk the Camino, they greet one another with the same words: “Buen Camino.”
En el Camino, Todo Caminante Pertenece
Esta historia especial reúne el mensaje más profundo de toda la serie. A lo largo del Camino llegan personas de muchos países, culturas y orígenes diferentes. Pueden hablar distintos idiomas, practicar diferentes religiones o tener ideas distintas.
Sin embargo, cuando caminan el Camino, todos se saludan con las mismas palabras: “Buen Camino.”
The Kitties of the Camino continues to grow. Book 9 and 10 , Kelly and the Power of Truth & Felix and the Bully Problem, got release on June 22, 2026. This year, the series will include 10 books, with 10 additional books planned for 2027. Each book focuses on an important value such as kindness, empathy, friendship, courage, gratitude, truth, inclusion, and joy, helping children learn meaningful life lessons through bilingual stories inspired by the Camino.
