Chile – Puerto Varas – Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid Trails – The Yosemite of Latin America.

Across Osorno, Through Mist and Memory

For Alex and me

We set out where the volcano sleeps, Past Puerto Vara's quiet deeps, Osorno rose in veils of gray, Foggy skies, a rainy day.

The wind was sharp, the trail unclear, Yet every step drew us near, To something vast, both raw and true, A path that only spirits knew.

We climbed through silence, wet with grace, Each footfall lost without a trace, But found in laughter, soaked and free, Two souls beneath the canopy.

Then came Cochamó, wild and wide, Where granite walls and trees collide, The Yosemite of Latin land, Carved not by fame, but nature’s hand.

We walked the trail of outlaws bold—Butch and Sundance, legends told, Who once drove cattle, forged their way From Argentine dusk to Chilean day.

Night fell soft on southern skies, The Milky Way before our eyes, Constellations spun their thread, Above the tent where dreams were spread.

Mushrooms danced in colors bright, In forests washed with silver light, Blue lakes mirrored sky and hill, While rivers sang, forever still.

Farmers greeted us with bread, Fresh and warm, just like they said.

Their stews and stories by the fire—Fed both body and desire.

In every bend and forest turn, A piece of life was ours to earn.

No gold or glory, just the grace Of walking far in nature’s face.

So here’s to Alex, strong and kind, And to the trail that cleared our mind.

In Chile’s wild, we left our mark—Two hearts beneath a sky gone dark.
