From maple woods to olive groves

                                                     by Abe Sanoja

They flit and flutter, flash and pose

Macaws red, green, blue, yellow with wicked eyes,
Hummingbirds in jeweled disguise.
They sing at dawn, a gentle trill,
Or shout at dusk from windowsill.

One whistles sharp, the other coos,
In languages of morning hues.
A jay may joke, a magpie scheme,
Some chase the wind, some chase a dream.

In Paris parks or Chilean trees,
They dance with light, they tease the breeze.
So full of wit, of grace, of cheer,
Each feathered laugh rings bright and clear.

From Andes peaks to English lane,
Their twits and quirks are never plain.
Let poets pause and ears rejoice
The skies are stitched with vibrant voice. Hola!!!

¡Hola!!!
