Whispers of Ice and Sky
(A Glacier Hike in Homer and Seward, Alaska)

On a summer’s day where the sky stretched wide, blue as a promise, deep as the tide,we walked the trails where silence speaks, among ancient ice and mountain peaks.

Golden eagles soared on thermals high, ravens danced against the sky, caribou watched from forested shade, while bears both black and brown parade.

The glaciers, once mighty, now retreat, leaving stone and sorrow at our feet.
You could hear the melt, the mountain’s sigh, as ice let go beneath the sky.

The blue within the glacier’s face,
A window to another place.
Cold and calm, yet fading fast,
a relic of a frozen past.

We stood in awe, but couldn’t deny,
The warming breath, the shrinking cry. Still beauty lingered, bold and grand, Alaska’s wild, untamed land.

With every step, a silent plea
That we may learn from what we see. That what still stands in glacier’s gleam a fleeting dream.
