Peru -Inca Trail

Five Days to the Sun In the spring of twenty-two

                             by Abe Sanoja

                            Beneath the Andean skies.

We walked where the Incas whispered, where ancient spirits rise.

Five days above ten thousand feet, stone by sacred stone, each step a story, each breath a prayer, we journeyed not alone.

The clouds would kiss the ridges high, the wind would hum its song, and we pilgrims chasing wonder kept our hearts and strides strong.

Through mountain passes wrapped in mist, through ruins worn but proud, until we reached the Sun Gate's edge and gasped beneath the clouds.

There Machu Picchu, morning-born, in silence it appeared, a dream of stone, alive with light, the past no longer veiled.

We stood in awe, with grateful hearts, where history meets the sky,
Where time bends low to let us pass, and memories never die.

But the trail did not end there, no—it shifted, warm and wild, to where the jungle breathes its breath and every tree’s a child.

In Peru’s lush Amazon we came, where silence holds its sway, until the calls of howler monkeys wake dawn into the day.

Tarantulas with patient grace, capybaras in herds by the river, caimans lurking in the dark, and skies alive with birds.

The spiders spun in moonlight, the air was thick with green, and life so vast, so intimate was everywhere unseen.

From stone to leaf, from height to depth, this path had much to show, that wonder lives in every step and truth in all we know.

The Inca Trail, the jungle deep, they etched upon our soul—A journey not just taken but one that made us whole.
